Glossier Solution – Review

I purchased this Glossier solution in hope that it would help my blemishes, redness and acne. They had really hyped this up on Instagram with before and after pictures and the long list of claims so I was intrigued wether this would actually work or if it was another overhyped product.

I have really been into upping my skincare game so I purchased this as soon as it released, I was a bit wary of the multiple acids within it but I thought I would give it a go.

Claims

“With daily use, expect a reduction in the appearance of redness, blemishes, and pore size. Skin’s texture will be smoother and softer, and the fabled glow of balanced, healthy skin will be in full force.”

Ingredients

Aqua/Water/Eau, Sodium Hydroxide, Lactic Acid, Glycolic Acid, Gluconolactone, Propanediol, Ethoxydiglycol, Magnesium Chloride, Glycereth-7 Trimethyl Ether, Niacinamide, Betaine, Inositol, Citric Acid, Glycerin, Salicylic Acid, Phytic Acid, Pentylene Glycol, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Caprylyl Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Parfum/Fragrance, PEG-8, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Acetic Acid, Potassium Hydroxide

A nice small list of ingredients, running this through COSDNA nothing flagged up as an irritant or a potential to cause acne. More than a few items were highly rated as unsafe but as this is a liquid exfoliator it’s expected.

My Thoughts

When I saw this being advertised all over Glossier social media I was beyond excited for it’s release. I love glossier for all its pH friendly skincare and it’s simplistic yet good makeup line but this was a let down.

Glossier made a long list of claims on their website yet not one of them were fulfilled, for me anyway. The very first time I used this I felt my skin sting, I do have sensitive skin and I have built up a tolerance to acids but none of them quite stung like this, it did however subside over the course of the week.

The first morning after applying this my skin was red and dry (I had moisturised and applied serum). The second morning the redness had spread and I began to get a small cluster of pimples around my forehead (my most sensitive area). I was really unsure wether to continue using this or not but I did. Here is photo log:

I was really hoping this would live up to the hype but I am beyond disappointed. Not only did this not work but it also made my skin worse too. The mixture of the unnecessary amount of acids makes this very strong and dries the skin out extremely. I was getting dry patches around the side of my nose, where I never get them! And my forehead was becoming so flaky that by around 4pm you could see the skin beginning to flake away.

The smell of the product is horrid, I can’t place what exactly the smell is but it’s really not nice. The dispenser is probably the only good thing about this product, but no doubt I will never be using this again!
