After the huge success of their Rouge Velvet Lipsticks, Bourjois recently released a new line; ‘Rouge Velvet The Lipstick‘ with 12 new shades! Now you might be wondering what’s the difference? Well the original rouge velvet lipsticks come in a tube, more like a liquid lipstick whilst the new range is a lipstick formula but still dries velvety and matte.
The shade range is impressive, with different tones of reds, nudes and pinks there is one to suit almost all skin tones.
‘Bold, matte and long-lasting colour 24hr. This lightweight, velvety texture is non-drying and gives extreme comfort that doesn’t smudge.’
The lipstick shape is slim and curved which makes application easier as it fits the natural shape and curve of the lips. These literally glide on, the creaminess of the formula makes application really easy and they feel soft and velvety on the lips but dry matte. Considering how pigmented these lipsticks are the transfer is very minimal even with the darker tones.
I wore this lipstick for around 4-5 hours, I was drinking and eating in between and I would say it lasted quite well. The pigmentation did wear off slightly but there was still colour left on the lips. Now a big pet peeve of mine with matte lipsticks and a reason why I opt to go lipstick free sometimes is the way matte lipsticks wear through the day, I hate my lips feeling dry and chapped towards the end of the night which completely puts me off. But I was pleasantly surprised with this, as I found no dryness or tight feeling to the lips which is a major plus from me!
I am very impressed with these lipsticks, it’s very hard for me to come across a formula of a matte lipstick that I like and at £8.99 they are purse friendly too. If your purchasing these online the colours are very true to the tone when applied. I also filmed a review and first impressions whilst trying some of the shades out which you can watch below!
