Makeup Revolution Luxury Banana Powder – First Impression Review

Loose powders have been all the rage ever since ‘baking’ and Kim K came onto the scene. Banana powders have been the most popular as they highlight, brighten and leave a flawless finish to the skin without leaving it looking white and ashy.
Makeup Revolution released a ‘luxury banana powder’ earlier this month which retails for Β£5 for 42g (The stock on the tam beauty site and Superdrug has sold out, but I’ve found this on amazon from the Makeup Revolution brand which you can purchase here; http://amzn.to/2koXiad however they are selling it for a higher price). Makeup revolution are well known for their eyeshadows and their affordable good quality makeup.

Claims

‘Warm your skin with our new Makeup Revolution Banana Powder with this mattifying banana powder. With a hint of colour set your foundation and reduce shine whilst correcting redness and pink undertones’

Application

The powder glides onto the skin without settling into any fine lines under the eye or appearing caky. With other drugstore banana powders I found I had to sweep off excess under the eyes, however this one sinks easily into the skin without leaving any residue. I used a beauty blender to apply the powder under my eyes and find that to be the best tool to use, however this powder also applies well using a makeup brush which I used to across the t-zone and chin. The powder feels soft and smooth under the eyes and I also found it to have a blurring effect on my acne scars and blemishes.

Looks FLAWLESSSS
Longevity

The powder under the eyes lasted amazing through the course of the day, towards the end of the night it was wearing off slightly but I did expect that as I had it on for around 14 hours+. As i have very very oily skin I was impressed that the powder kept my shine at bay for 5 hours before i needed to retouch. After retouching it lasted pretty well until the end of the night, but i did see a bit of shine across my t-zone.

Packaging

Off the bat the packaging looks exactly the same as the Ben Nye banana powder. If both bottles had no label on them I honestly wouldn’t be able to tell the difference. I do like the size of the bottle but I hate how I have to put the product into the lid (which is quite small) in order to use it. Also for on the go use it isn’t the most ideal.

Overall View

LOVE this product, it is an amazing drugstore powder which is on par with many of the high end luxury powders. It’s easy to apply and looks flawless in pictures and in real life. If you have oily skin you will have to touch up in the middle of the day which I always have to regardless of the powder I use. I also feel has a blurring effect on the skin hiding small blemishes and redness. Also I have very sensitive acne prone skin and I didn’t feel it aggravted anything or made me breakout.

All in all you cannot go wrong with this, for the price you get amazing value for money and a little goes a long way. Definitely a WIN!
