Tony Moly – I’m Real Sheet Masks / Review

I’m all for sheet masking and truly believe its one of the best ways to nourish, hydrate and replenish the skin. But the price tag that comes with many of them isn’t ideal and as much as I love them there is no way i would pay ridiculous prices (I’ve seen some online for £135 pounds!!) for them. So i’ve made it my mission to find affordable sheet masks that do exactly the same thing but for a third of the price (or even cheaper). I bought my masks from Amazon ( and i got 11 for £12.60!!! I’ve seen these in stores for around £2 each so the amazon offer is worth while.

If your new to sheet masking click here to see my ‘sheet mask 101′ and it’s benefits.

The first set of sheet masks that i’ve tried are these Tony Moly- I’m real sheet masks. Tony Moly originates from Korea and if there’s one thing you need to know about Koreans is that they take their skin care seriously, so even their budget brands release amazing products which are on par (or even better) with high end products.

The Breakdown

Water, Glycerin, Glycereth-26, Butylene Glycol, Peg/ppg-17/6 Copolymer, Bis-ethoxy Diglycol Succinate, Panthenol, Allantoin, Peg-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Chlorphenesin, Carbomer, Phenoxyethanol, Tromethamine, Solanium Lycopersicum (tomato) Fruit Extract, 1,2-hexanediol, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Honey Extract, Prunus Persica (peach) Fruit Extract, Caprylyl Glycol, Illicium Verum (anise) Fruit Extract, Disodium Edta, Fragrance

Tony Moly have various different ‘flavours’ in their sheet masks, whilst the majority of ingredients are the same in each one they do differ slightly between the ‘flavours’. Through running each face mask through COSDNA the ‘I’m real Avocado Mask’ flagged up as potentially the most irritating and high acne potential. These particular ingredients are for the ‘Aloe Sheet Mask’.

The good stuff;

  •  Allantoin – an anti-inflammatory and anti-irritant emollient. Helps to remove dead skin cells and and helps the skin retain more water leaving it smoother, softer and helps to reduce redness.
  • Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract –Reduces the appearance of dry, flaky skin and restores suppleness.
  • Sodium Hyaluronate – Helps the skin to retain moisture and has the ability to help the skin to bind and hold significant amounts of water. (One of my favourite ingredients)

Running the ingredients through COSDNA i found a few potential irritants; Carbomer- An emulsion stabiliser with a irritant rating of 1(out of 5) and Butylene Glycol- Used to dissolve dirt and prevent the sheet from drying too quickly with an acne irritant potential of 1(out of 5).

Tony Moly claim the green tea sheet mask to instantly soothe, moisturise and provide nutrition to damaged skin. Each face mask claims to do something different, but personally i don’t see any drastic differences between them, I think they all do the same thing.

My Experience

I used these sheet masks 3-4 times a week because i am OBSESSED with them. Generally i am obsessed with any type of sheet mask but for the price these come at i don’t feel guilty for using them recklessly.

The sheet comes folded inside a little packet and drenched (literally drenched) in product. I don’t mind how saturated they are, I just see it as more product for me to use! I like to use the excess in the packet on my elbows and knees or wherever i have dry patches. The skin absorbs the majority of the product after around 15 minutes, I would recommend patting in the excess to make sure it’s all fully absorbed into the skin. The serum doesn’t feel tacky on the skin, it feels quite light and you can see a difference in moisture retention as soon as you take it off.

The masks do exactly as they say on the packet, they help the skin to retain water leading to a more plump and healthy complexion, soothe the skin from redness, help dry patches and leave skin soft as a babies bottom. I would say the skin suppleness lasts a good 2 days, but as with many products works best when used consistently over a long time period to really see any major differences on the skin.

Overall Review

For the price you pay these masks are genuinely amazing. I have nothing bad to say as they have done wonders for my skin! I have sensitive combination skin so it’s really a struggle for me at times to find something that can give me glowy skin without breaking me out, which these masks definitely do. I’ve also found over long term use that it has helped to reduce my blemishes and redness. Definitely worth the pennies!

Overall Rating: 5/5

Hope this helped! Let me know in the comments if you guys have tried this mask and your views on it! 🙂

  1. Great review. I was acutally wondering which one from this line I should actually try and since my skin is rather sensitive, I wasn’t sure if the oh so popular avocado mask would be suitable for me.
Guess I’ll go with the Rice or Broccoli one.

      1. Hey dear, I’m (un)happy to report, that the rice mask I ended up picking didn’t suit my sensitive skin at all. It even gave me a minor rash. (Wrote a review on my Instagram). So from my own testing I wouldn’t recommend it to people with same kind of gentle face. But I’m really happy you had a much better masking experience.
